EDWARD W. FAWCETT

Edward W. Fawcett, a resident of LifeQuest Nursing Center in Quakertown, died peacefully on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the age of 91.  Formerly of Sellersville, he was the husband of Bertha Fawcett, who passed away December 7.  They had been married 53 years in July.

He was born in Orange, New Jersey to the late Willa and Florence (Crook) Fawcett.  He attended Quakertown High School and served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945 as an airplane and engine mechanic.  He achieved the rank of Sergeant.  He was employed for many years at the U.S. Gauge of Sellersville.

His great passion was model railroading and train photography.  He spent many hours assembling and painting model railroad cars and had a large train layout.  He enjoyed “gadgets” and mechanical and electronic things and also was an avid magnet collector.  For the last several years, until his stroke in September, he had been the devoted caretaker of his wife.

He is survived by his son Robert, and daughter-in-law Linda, of Quakertown.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Elinar (Landis) Fawcett in 1953, brother, Joseph, and sisters, Florence Jett and Lucille Meckling.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of the Brethren, Quakertown.  Interment in Quakertown Union Cemetery.

Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral Home, 20 N. Ambler St., Quakertown was in charge of arrangements.
