Doris A. (Daugherty) Gebert, 87, wife of Paul R. Gebert, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Pennsburg and Red Hill, died Monday, October 12, 2009, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. She and her husband celebrated 70 years of marriage this past July 1st.
Born in Red Hill, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Elsie (Bartlett) Daugherty. She was a Postal Clerk at the Red Hill and Pennsburg Post Offices for 25 years before retiring in 1983.
She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in The Villages, Florida, where she was a member of the bell choir and formerly was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Red Hill, where she was a longtime choir member, assistant organist, and a member of the bell choir. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #184, East Greenville.
Surviving along with her husband are three daughters: Constance L. Beers, of Pennsburg; Paulette A. Gebert, of The Villages, Florida; and Hazel J., wife of Gene Gaugler, of The Villages, Florida; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by a son, Joel Gebert, in 2006, and a brother, John Daugherty.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, with Rev. Charles E. Romanowski officiating. Family and friends may call between 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA, 19004.
