Obituaries
Jack W. “Tiny” Kuhns, Jr., 37, of Main Street, Pennsburg, died Monday, October 12, 2009 at home. Born in Bristol, he was a son of Cynthia R. (White) and Jack W. Kuhns, Sr. of Perkasie.
He was a 1991 graduate of Pennridge High School. He was an installer for Helm Fence Company in Hatfield for the past 13 years. He attended Family Worship Center in Lansdale, and was a member of the American Legion Post #184, East Greenville.
Surviving along with his parents, is a brother, Joshua Kuhns, Sr., and his fiancée, Annette, with whom he resided; three sisters: Susan Miller, of the Poconos, Michelle, wife of Mark Kurns, of Conshohocken, and Patti Fretz, of Perkasie as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041 with Rev. J. R. Damiani officiating. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family would be forever grateful for contributions made to the funeral home for assistance with the funeral expenses.
Cecile Pauline Kennedy, 90, of the Frederick Mennonite Community, and formerly of North Wales, died October 10, 2009. She was the widow of Albert Kennedy. Born in Tabor City, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Rozier Listen and Beulah F. (Watts) Stephens.
She was employed in the offices of Leeds and Northrop Company of North Wales and then DataCard-Gem Plus of Montgomeryville, until retiring at age 80. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lansdale.
Surviving are a son, Albert Kennedy, and his wife, Carol, of Schwenksville; a daughter, Frances, wife of Donald Mayall, of Pennsburg; a brother, Elton Stephens, and his wife, Carolyn, of Wadesboro, North Carolina; four grandchildren: Christina, Stephen, Neil, and Pamela; and great-granddaughters: Rachel and Alexis. Sons, Gerald and John, and grandson, John Mayall, predeceased her.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale. Interment is in the church cemetery.

Lois H. McEver, 75, of East Greenville, died October 9, 2009. She was the widow of William L. McEver Jr.
Surviving are daughters: Lynn Ward, of East Greenville; and Catherine Vassallo, of Quakertown; siblings: Iva Rollins, Reggie Harrington, David Howell, and Douglas Howell; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Sons William III and David predeceased her.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at New Goshenhoppen UCC, East Greenville.

Doris A. (Daugherty) Gebert, 87, wife of Paul R. Gebert, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Pennsburg and Red Hill, died Monday, October 12, 2009, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. She and her husband celebrated 70 years of marriage this past July 1st.
Born in Red Hill, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Elsie (Bartlett) Daugherty. She was a Postal Clerk at the Red Hill and Pennsburg Post Offices for 25 years before retiring in 1983.
She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in The Villages, Florida, where she was a member of the bell choir and formerly was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Red Hill, where she was a longtime choir member, assistant organist, and a member of the bell choir. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #184, East Greenville.
Surviving along with her husband are three daughters: Constance L. Beers, of Pennsburg; Paulette A. Gebert, of The Villages, Florida; and Hazel J., wife of Gene Gaugler, of The Villages, Florida; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by a son, Joel Gebert, in 2006, and a brother, John Daugherty.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, with Rev. Charles E. Romanowski officiating. Family and friends may call between 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA, 19004.
Richard H. Compton, 87, of Green Lane, died October 2, 2009. He was the husband of the late Helen (Blanchard) Compton. Born in Bustleton, he was a son of the late William and Anne (Slocum) Compton.
He served his country honorably in the Army during WWII. He and his wife owned and operated Compton Products in Nasonville, Rhode Island, for many years until retiring in 1965. He was a former member of #13 F&A.M., Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
Surviving are daughters: Priscilla, wife of Howard Crafford, of Maine; Patricia Rogler and Helen Busby, both of Massachusetts and Nancy, wife of Merrill Derstine, of Harleysville; sisters: Grace Best, of Topsfield, Massachusetts and Helen, wife of Benjamin Slovak, of Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey; six grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Brothers Donald, Norman, and William, and sister, Mildred, predeceased him.
