John “Cal” Calvin Young, 84, husband of Phyllis J. (Miller) Young, of Pennsburg, died Thursday at Valley Manor Nursing Home, Coopersburg. He and his wife celebrated 57 years of marriage on May 23, 2010.
Born in Pennsburg, he was a son of the late Osbourne and Rebecca (Frye) Young.
He was a sheet metal operator for Mack Trucks, Allentown for 17 years, retiring in 1986; he previously worked for O.F. Young and Son’s Coal and Fuel Oil for many years and for several years at Reading Railroad.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II.
He was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and was a member of Pennsburg Fire Company.
Surviving along with his wife are a daughter, Charlotte A. Moser, and husband, Paul, of Zionsville; a brother, Donald Young and wife, Elaine, of Quakertown; four sisters: Mildred Culhane, of Pennsburg, Harriet Bowman, of East Greenville, Bernice Craggs, and husband, Nick, of Churchville, and Anna Franzone ,and husband, Joseph, of Norristown and three grandchildren: Joshua, Andrew and Nathan Moser.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by siblings; Norman Young, Ruth Klebe, Jane Estenes, Mary Krause, and Dorothy Shupe Bytheway.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St. East Greenville with Rev. Charles E Romanowski officiating. Emma J. (Diehl) Fox, 79, wife of Clair W. of Hereford, formerly of East Greenville, passed away on Monday, July 12th in her residence. She and her husband would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on October 8, 2010.
Born in Upper Hanover Township, Montgomery County, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Martha (Hersh) Diehl.
She was a homemaker and a longtime member of New Goshenhoppen UCC, East Greenville.
Surviving with her husband is a son, Bill, and wife, Grace, of Perkiomenville; a brother, Linford Diehl, and wife, Loretta, of Green Lane. She was predeceased by: a daughter, Patsy Fox, and an infant son, two brothers; Alvin and Eugene Diehl and three sisters; Lillian Musselman, Pauline Frick and Anna Stauffer.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 at New Goshenhoppen UCC, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville, with the Rev. James Roth officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the church.

Edward F. Tercha, 86, of North Church Street, Bally, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in his residence.
Born in Longswamp Township, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Fryz) Tercha.
He was a molder for March & Brownback, Pottstown for 20 years and later worked for Unicast as a molder for 30 years until his retirement. He was a private first class in the Marine Corps during WWII. Edward was a loving father and pappy, an avid Civil War buff and his favorite place to visit was Gettysburg. Edward was a great cook, especially baking “cheesecake.”
He is survived by a son, Michael D., husband of Lyn Tercha, of Bethlehem; four daughters: Barbara (Tercha) Ansfree, of Fogelsville, Beverly R. (Tercha), widow of Dennis Stoudt, of Bally, Collette J. (Tercha), wife of Robert Stitt, of Bally, and Renee J.A. (Tercha), wife of Roger Hendricks, Jr., of New Berlinville; a brother, Frank Tercha, of Fogelsville; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, June 27, 2010 at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 111 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown. Reverend Chris Stein officiated.
Relatives and friends will be received between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Gardner H. Schoenly, 94, husband of the late Dorothy E. (Trumbore) Schoenly, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Tuesday, June 29 in Masonic Village Nursing Home, Elizabethtown.
Born in Red Hill, he was a son of the late David H. and Mamie (Weldner) Schoenly.
Gardner was self-employed in construction for 30 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Audubon. He was a past Master of the Charity Lodge #190, Norristown; a past Commander of the Hutchinson-Jerusalem Commandry, Norristown; a past Royal Master of Palestine Council, Norristown; a past High Priest of Royal Arch Chapter, Norristown, and received the York Cross of Honor. He was a 33rd degree member of the Lehigh Consistory, Allentown. He was also a member of the LuLu Shriner’s in Philadelphia
Surviving are his son, Stuart G. Schoenly, and wife, Deanna, of Northboro, Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Reed Schoenly, of Brownsville, Texas and Heather Jones, of Windemere, Florida; and two great-grandsons, Tyler and Jake Schoenly.
A graveside service was held Friday, July 2, 11:00 a.m. at Christ Union Cemetery, Niantic Road, Bally, officiated by Rev. Charles E. Romanowski.

William G. Brown, 85, of Life Quest Nursing Center, formerly of Pennsburg, widower of the late Arlene M. (Schultz) Haberacker Brown, died Sunday, July 4, 2010 in St. Luke’s Quakertown Hospital.
Born in Parkesburg, he was the son of the late William and Edith (Glenn) Brown.
William was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. He worked at Pillsbury in East Greenville, for 32 years in maintenance, retiring in 1987. He was also a member of the Perkiomen Lodge 595, Red Hill.
Surviving are a daughter, E. Marie Kurtz, of Reading; a son, Richard L. Haberacker, of Palm; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 8 =at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St. East Greenville, with Rev. Charles E. Romanowski officiating.
