Steven V. Hersh
2013-07-15

Steven Victor Hersh, 61, husband of Susan Jane (Hoffman) Hersh, of East Greenville, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 11, 2013.

Born in Allentown on November 21, 1951, he was a son of the late Linwood W. and Anna (Fricz) Hersh.

He was a 1969 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country in the Vietnam War from 1969 until 1971.  After coming home from the service, he and Sue were married in 1972 and recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in November. He went into business for himself and started Steve Hersh Construction. He had a passion for what he did and was a true craftsman.

Steve was an excellent cook and avid gardener.  He enjoyed canning his own fruits and vegetables and also made his own homemade wine.  He was a huntsman and was a member of the Snake Hill Hunting Club and he loved going to their cabin on Saylors Lake.  He also loved his animals, his beloved dog, Tilt and his cat, Lucky.

Surviving along with his wife is a sister, Linda Hersh-Shea of Hatfield; a niece, Jessica Hersh of Philadelphia and many cousins.  Along with his parents he is predeceased by a brother, Timothy W. Hersh.

Services are private.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville.  Share memories and offer words of comfort to the family at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Montgomery County SPCA, 1059 Sweisford Road, Perkiomenville, PA 18074.
