Leona C. Smolinsky

              Leona C. Smolinsky, a resident of Hilltown Township since 1954 passed away on Wednesday, May 08, 2013 at the Life Quest Nursing Center, Quakertown.  She was 86.

                Leona was the beloved wife of Michael Smolinsky for 66 years.

                Born in Minersville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Winifred (Manel) Kopko.

                Leona was a loving, caring mom, Nana and Mom-mom that enjoyed spending time with her family and was happy talking to everyone she met. She was an active parishioner of St Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, Warrington.  For more than 25 yrs, she helped with the preparation of  pierogies and worked at the Bingo games.  To family and friends, Leona was known as “The Pierogy Lady”.  Leona was employed in the hosiery industry for many years.   

                In addition to her husband, Leona is survived by 2 sons, John (Patti), and Michael (Robin) and 2 daughters, Gerry Schuster (companion Phil Meyers) and Marianne Forde (Gregory).  She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Tracey, Jamie, Kelly, Kevin (Brittany), Eric, Rachael, Michael, Alison and Lisa, 3 great grandchildren, Dylan, Ashlynn and Hazel, and a sister Cecilia Conville.  She was preceded in death by two brothers George and Edward Kopko, a sister Helen Trasatt and son-in-law Robert Schuster.

                Relatives and friends are invited to Leona’s Requiem Divine Liturgy, 11:00 am, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1545 Easton Rd  Warrington, PA 18976, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service.  Interment in Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be held privately.

                In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne Church at the address above.
