Shirley M. (Whitaker) Knapp

Shirley M. (Whitaker) Knapp, age 73, of Green Lane, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at Holy Redeemer Hospital with her daughter by her side.

Born in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Agnes (Neal) Whitaker.

Shirley was a graduate of Annapolis High School, class of 1958.

Shirley was a strong, hard-working woman who would stop at nothing to provide for her family. People who knew her loved her. She had many good friends and touched many people throughout her life. She loved her grandkids with all her heart. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those lives she touched.

Shirley is survived by her devoted children, Kelly Halteman, wife of Gary Halteman, of Green Lane, and Marcia Strobel of Painted Post, New York. She was a loving grandmother to Emma and Sarah Halteman and Victorian and Scott Strobel of Painted Post, New York. She is also survived by a brother Luther, and his wife Betty, of Virginia; nieces, Janet and Brenda and nephews Jr. and Steven of Maryland.

Shirley requested no funeral services. She will be cremated by Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., Telford, Franconia Township.

The family requests to send donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, which is an organization Shirley stood by.
