Anne M. Bourdon
Anne M. (Watson) Bourdon, 85, of North Wales, and formerly of Green Lane, died January 11, 2013 in Grand View Hospital surrounded by her beloved family.
Born in Montreal, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (Gallagher) Watson.
She received her music degree from McGill University in Montreal and sang professionally as a soloist in oratories, operas, and operettas. She sang with the Bach Choir on BBC radio and received a scholarship to Berlin in 1955. She and Maureen Forrester studied and lived in Berlin. She was the lead soprano for the Berlin Opera. Upon her return to Canada, she married Lloyd Bourdon and had three sons, Lloyd, Lester, and Laird. In 1965, she became an American citizen. After her divorce, she received a bachelor's and master's degree in Special Education and taught with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit until she retired. She was a member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, East Greenville.
Surviving are sons: Lloyd of Colorado, Lester, and his wife Karen, of Schwenksville, and Laird, and his wife Joan, with whom she resided; five grandchildren: Kyle and his wife Kate, Kirsten, Danielle, wife of Jon Haines, Chelsea, and Keely; and a great-granddaughter, Baileigh Anne Haines; Margaret Gardner of Ontario, Canada, and many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Alexander, who died at birth, and a brother, Jack.
All were invited to visit with the family from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at New Goshenhoppen UCC, 1070 Church Rd, East Greenville. A celebration of her life followed the visitation at the church. She requested that all who attended wear bright colors. Interment was private.
