Police said a 19-year-old Quakertown woman died in a single-vehicle crash in Milford Sunday night.
According to reports, Karisa Lauren Kade was a backseat passenger in a green 1995 Saturn station wagon which crashed in the 2400 block of Heiter Road in Milford at 7:31 p.m.
According to her Facebook page, Kade was a 2011 graduate of PA Cyber charter school and also formerly attended Quakertown Community School District. She reportedly had one daughter, Kenzie.
Police said the Saturn, driven by Amanda Helveston, 22, of Quakertown, was south on the road when, for unknown reasons, it crossed into the northbound lane and then hit a tree with its front, passenger side. Officials at the scene said the vehicle then hit three other trees before stopping.
Authorities stated Kade was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bucks County Coroner’s office. Helveston had to extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel. She and a front seat passenger, Jonathan Michael Simpson, 20, of Quakertown, were injured and were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital by ambulance. Their conditions were unknown as of press time.
None of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, authorities said.
Milford and Pennsburg fire companies assisted at the scene, along with St. Luke’s EMS. State police said an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
