Police said a bullet smashed through the rear windshield of a Chevrolet Tahoe “narrowly missing” three children as the SUV traveled down New Hanover Square Road in New Hanover Township Tuesday afternoon.
New Hanover Police have arrested three adults who they said were having target practice, along with three juveniles, using assault weapons and high-powered rifles at a home in the 3300 block of New Hanover Square Road around 3:55 p.m.
According to police, David Beamer, 51, of the 3300 block of New Hanover Square Road, New Hanover, Michael Glazewski, 18, of the 1200 block of Hunter Lane, Perkiomenville, and Christopher Malinowski, 18, of the 3300 block of New Hanover Square Road, New Hanover, were in the rear yard at the property shooting numerous weapons.
Police said AK-47 and AR-15 assault rifles, a .30 caliber high-powered rifle, shotguns and several handguns, along with a substantial amount of ammunition, were seized at the scene.
A press release issued Wednesday morning by police stated that Beamer, Glazewski and Malinowski are being charged with risking a catastrophe, corruption of minors, possession of instruments of crime, recklessly endangering another person and related offenses for the incident.
Police said Beamer also faces charges of resisting arrest and assault on a police officer.
The men were not arraigned as of press time Wednesday.
Authorities said the driver of the vehicle, an unidentified woman, pulled the vehicle into the parking lot of the Hickory Park Restaurant at Big and New Hanover Square roads after her vehicle was shot. No injuries were reported.
No further information was immediately available from New Hanover Police.
