Harold Yerk
2012-07-26

Harold Yerk, 91, of 1395 Princeton Avenue, Williamsport, died Monday, June 18, 2012, surrounded by his family. Harold’s wife of 68 years, the former Beulah E. Reeder, died May 15, 2011.

Born September 22, 1920 in East Greenville, he was the son of Horace and Florence Nace Yerk.
Harold was an Army veteran of World War II, serving for three years in the South Pacific. He retired from the former Bethlehem Steel Co., Williamsport, in 1982. Harold attended the Trinity United Methodist Church, Williamsport, and was a member of their men’s choir and men’s group.
He enjoyed hunting, gardening, landscaping and Penn State football, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
Surviving are daughters, Linda Schramm and Jan (Ron) Sauers, both of Williamsport; three grandchildren, Matt Sauers, Jason (Sarah) Sauers, and Lauren Sauers, and a great-grandson, Logan Sauers. In addition to his wife, Harold was predeceased by his brothers, Earl, Ernest, Lawrence and Linwood.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport with the Rev. John Dromazos officiating. Burial was in Buchanan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to the Susquehanna Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701. www.knightconferfuneralhome.com
