Pennsburg Fire Company responded to a report of a fire alarm at the Pennsburg Manor nursing home on Macoby St. Pennsburg around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday night.
Firefighters quickly arrived and found that the building had been struck by lightning during a thunderstorm that dropped several inches of rain on the area.
Pennsburg Fire Chief Scott Seip had a “full box” alarm dispatched for the incident which brought volunteer firefighters from East Greenville, Red Hill and Milford Township to the scene.
Although there was some structural damage to the building, no fire was reported as firefighters searched the building and roof for other damage or possible fire extension.
