Upper Perk police arrested a 42-year-old East Greenville man last Wednesday after they said he confessed to multiple crimes involving a 16-year-old East Greenville girl.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Red Hill District Court, Darrin Hartman, of the 300 block of Forge Road, sent multiple sexually-explicit and threatening text messages to the girl, namely on Sept. 9, 2011 when he told her “I would not go to sleep 2 nite if I were you” and “I’ll be watching you.”
Despite being asked by the girl to stop texting her and to delete her phone number, authorities said Hartman refused, asking the girl, “Don’t u at least want to know who is going to kill u?”
The girl’s father reportedly saw the text messages on her phone and alerted authorities.
Police said Hartman, who identified himself in a message as the girl’s “secret psycho stalker,” interacted with the teen on several occasions in the summer and fall 2011. He confessed to police he sent the text messages and supplied the girl with marijuana and alcohol, court documents stated, despite knowing she was a minor.
Hartman was charged with stalking, corruption of minors and harassment. He was arraigned and released on $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. in Red Hill.
