ROBERT P. "BOTCH" NOLEN
2011-08-25

      Robert P. "Botch" Nolen, age 75, of Hatfield, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011at Grand View Hospital. He was the husband of Gloria J. (Landis) Nolen, to whom he was married 54 years.

Born in Hatfield, he was the son of the late Edwin and Elizabeth (Donahue) Nolen.
Robert graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School, Lansdale.
Over his lifetime he was employed by Rosenberger’s Dairies, PennDot, Hatfield Quality Meats and Sanford Alderfer Auction Company. Mr. Nolen was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church, Hatfield. He was also a member of the Indianapolis 500 Oldtimers Association, United States Auto Club and the Indy Racing League. Mr. Nolen actively served the Hatfield Volunteer Fire Company for 56 years and was a lifetime member. Besides his love for his family and volunteering in his community, Mr. Nolen also enjoyed auto racing, mowing the lawn and plowing snow.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Gregory S. Nolen and wife, Darlene, of Lebanon, Robert S. Nolen and wife, Kim, of Harleysville, Michele Nolen, of Hatfield, Patrick W. Nolen and fiancée, Sheryl, of Reinholds, James Nolen and fiancée, Denise, of Blandon; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Kile, of Sumneytown and a brother Thomas Nolen, of Modesto, California. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six siblings: Edwin, Bernard, John, Wilbur, Richard and sister Gertrude Funk.
The family received friends Friday, August 19, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, and Saturday, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church, 1601 Derstine Road, Hatfield. Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Interment followed at Hatfield Cemetery.
