Three people from the Upper Perkiomen Valley were taken into custody on drug charges after a brief state police investigation.
According to PA State Police, Skippack, Patricia A. McConnell, 31, of Pennsburg, Jacob L. Sharrow, 22, of Green Lane and Derek L. Mensch, 34, of East Greenville, were arrested Feb. 23 shortly after midnight after a trooper saw them acting suspiciously inside a vehicle parked at the American Legion, 744 Gravel Pike in Upper Hanover.
Police said troopers approached the Jeep Cherokee the trio were in and asked McConnell for identification. Authorities said McConnell told them she didn't have any ID and then gave them a fake name.
Troopers said the driver, Sharrow, had a suspended license and when he was asked to get out of the SUV, a bag of suspected heroin fell from his lap.
Mensch was later found with a bag of cocaine and drug paraphernalia on his person, authorities said. A search of McConnell also turned up a bag of cocaine, according to police, and troopers determined she was wanted by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department. Authorities did not say what she was wanted for.
Police said all three were arrested and charged with drug possession and related offenses in Red Hill District Court. They are scheduled to appear in front of Judge Catherine Hummel-Fried for a preliminary hearing March 30 at 11 a.m.
According to court documents, Mensch is scheduled to appear in Tioga County court to plead guilty on separate drug charges, including manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, later this month in connection with an Oct. 12, 2012 incident in Mansfield.
