Douglas R. Downing
2014-02-25

          Douglas R. Downing, 70, of Lakewood NJ died

February 14, 2014 in his home.  He was born in Quakertown, PA.

          He was a native of Sumneytown and graduated from Upper Perkiomen High School, class of 1961.  He worked in the trucking industry for over 30 years, distributing to many companies including Mercedes, McDonalds and Shoprite.  He was a member of the Jehovah's Witness Cranbury Congregation in Monroe, NJ.

          He was predeceased by his wife, Janice Downing of Jamesburg, NJ and one brother, Keith Jett, Allentown, PA; survived by his wife Marie and daughter Latrece.

          Surviving are his four children, Cynthia Vessel of Madison, GA, Erica April Fisher (Mark) of Monmouth Jct., NJ, Cristal Downing-Jefferies (John) of Hillsborough, NJ and Brandon Downing of South River, NJ; seven grandchildren, Shkire and Taylor Vessel; Chandler, Chayse and Chaney Fisher; Skylar and Hunter Jeffries, two great grandchildren, Jeremiah and Harmony Vessel; his Mother, Celestine Jett of Green Lane, PA; two sisters, Janine Woodhouse, Renee Herbert; and four brothers, Eric, Alfred, Lyle and Jamie Jett.

          A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 12:30 pm, Saturday March 15 at the Perkiomen Lodge, 466 Adam St., Red Hill, PA.  Friends and family are welcome.
