A Washington Township man is scheduled to appear in Boyertown District Court next week on charges he indecently assaulted a 5-year-old girl.
According to court documents, Glenn Brancaleoni, 47, was arrested by PA state police, Reading, on Jan. 12 after allegedly assaulting the girl as she slept at his house that day. The crime was allegedly reported by the victim’s mother.
Reports stated Brancaleoni allegedly admitted to touching the girl when he was confronted. He reportedly said he moved beds to be next to the girl and later touched her inappropriately while she was sleeping. According to authorities, Brancaleoni said he knew it was wrong to do so.
He was charged with two felony counts of aggravated indecent assault of a minor, one felony count of corruption of minors and a misdemeanor count of indecent assault.
He was arraigned Jan. 12 by Judge Gloria W. Stitzel. Stitzel set bail at $50,000 and Brancaleoni was remanded to Berks County prison after being unable to post bail.
A preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday in front of Judge Michael G. Hartman was continued until Jan. 29 at 9:45 a.m.
The case is being prosecuted by Berks County Assistant District Attorney Jonathan H. Kurland. Brancaleoni is being represented by public defender Vanessa L. Bellino.
