Born August 15, 1926 in East Greenville, he was a son of the late Hiram P. Brey, Sr. and Mabel (Kline) Brey, and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Lee Tire and Good Year Tire, and retired from American Olean Tile. He also owned and operated a flower shop in Skippack for over 25 years.

Mr. Brey was a past president of the Skippack Lions Club and member for 25 years, and was a past president of the Harleysville Lions Club and member for 28 years. He served as Lions District 14-R Governor 1969-1970, and was a devoted supporter of Beacon Lodge for over 33 years.

Mr. Brey was a long-time member of Wentz’s United Church of Christ where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He served as judge of elections in Harleysville for eight years, and for over twenty years, proudly served as the crossing guard for Lower Salford Elementary School.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sisters: Edith Stevens and her husband, Leroy, of Pennsburg; Esther Wood and her husband, Donald, of Tucson, AZ; Nancy Haas and her husband, Curtis, of Boyertown; and Judy Spivcy and her husband, Jerry, of Big Spring, TX; two sisters in law, Shirley and Helen Brey; a very close niece, Kathleen Hinton and her husband, George, and their family; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four siblings: Leroy, Bill, and David Brey; and Ellen Shellenberger.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11AM on Saturday, January 4, at R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 3440 Skippack Pike @ Cedars Rd., Skippack, where friends may call for the viewing from 9:30-10:45AM. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Red Hill.     Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Wentz’s U.C.C., 3246 Skippack Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446, or checks may be made out to Harleysville Lions Club (to benefit Beacon Lodge) and sent to Tim Clemmer, 43 Highview Dr., Telford, PA 18969.
