Willard “Whitey” Simon, 78, passed away on Saturday October 12, 2013 in Sumneytown, where he resided for more than 30 years.

Born in Green Lane in 1935, he was a son of the late Arthur and Stella (Breyer) Simon.

For many years, he worked at the former Sumneytown Pants Factory, then for Montgomery County Roads and Bridges prior to retiring.

He was a member of the VFW #5954 of Red Hill, Red Hill Fire Co, Green Lane Fire Co and the Fraternal Order of Police.

Willard enjoyed hunting with his team of Beagles, fishing, or just spending time at his cabin in Sullivan County.

He also cheered for the New York teams, whether it was the Yankees or the Giants. Basically, Willard cheered for any team that played against the Eagles.

He is survived by his sister, Martine (Simon), wife of the late Clifford Gehman of Souderton; sister-in-law, Margaret (Copeland) Simon, wife of his late brother, Stanford C. Simon, of Green Lane; a nephew, Richard Simon, husband to Susan (Atkins) of Pennsburg; a niece, Sharon (Simon) Stevens, wife of John Samios of Green Lane; along with numerous other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041 with Rev.
