Sassamansville Man, Woman Arrested for Burglaries
Pair and juvenile accomplices also allegedly face charges in third burglary and thefts from vehicles
A 21-year-old man and 19-year-old woman, both from Sassamansville, along with their 15- and 16-year-old accomplices were arrested last Monday for burglarizing two homes in Upper Frederick Township.
State police, Skippack barracks, said Nathaniel Bauer and Kimberly Wolke, both of the 100 block of Hoffmansville Road, and the two juveniles broke a bedroom window to gain access to a home in the 3500 block of Salford Station Road June 20 at approximately 7 p.m.
Once inside, they stole a Ruger .22-caliber handgun, an X-Box 360, a Nintendo Wii, numerous video games, a Bose stereo system, a laptop computer, a camera and jewelry. The items were reportedly worth $6,000.
Damage to the property was estimated at $1,000.
Police said the thieves also broke into a home in the 3400 block of Salford Station Road by kicking in a basement window. At that home they reportedly took various pieces of jewelry, video games and other electronics. Police said the homeowner was unable to provide a value of the stolen items.
While inside the homes, two of the thieves, who later told police they were hungry, also helped themselves to beer, orange juice and cheese.
Police said all those stolen items have been recovered and were returned to their owners.
Both Bauer and Wolke were charged with burglary, theft by unlawful taking, criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief. They were arraigned by District Justice Edward Kropp Sr. of Pottstown. They were remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
The two juveniles, both of Perkio-menville, were charged with burglary and related offenses in Montgomery County Juvenile Court. Both are currently being held at the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center.
State police said the juveniles were also subsequently charged with drug charges when a search warrant was executed at their home in the 3400 block of Foxfield Circle in Upper Frederick Township June 21 at 8:50 a.m. related to the burglaries.
Drug paraphernalia including water bongs, rolling papers, baggies, pipes and a drug sales list were recovered at the scene.
The juveniles were subsequently charged with possession of drug paraphernalia in Montgomery County Juvenile Court.
Through an investigation into the burglaries, state police said the juveniles, Bauer and Wolke and four accomplices were allegedly connected to a series of thefts from vehicles in the Perkiomen Crossing development in Upper Frederick Township. Those thefts, dating back several months, included a high-powered hunting rifle, cell phones, GPS systems, iPods, other electronic equipment and miscellaneous items.
Authorities said the vehicles were unlocked at the time of the thefts.
State police said the amount of property taken in those crimes is so large they have yet to complete a comprehensive list to date. Photos of the recovered merchandise are scheduled to by posted on the Upper Frederick Township website next week so residents can claim property recovered by police.
